Ferruccio De Filippi was born in Rome in 1943. In the late sixties, years when Pop Art and Arte Povera dominated the artistic scene, he came in contact with the artists that met around Piazza del Popolo, in Rome. “Antropologica” is the title of his first solo exhibition for Gian Tommaso Liverani’s La Salita Gallery in 1970. The artistic research presented continued until the mid-1970s when a profound change took place: the generation of the conceptual rethought the art making and re-immerged itself in the “nostalgia for painting”. In 1977, Ferruccio De Filippi presented, again, at Galleria La Salita, the work “La strada del latte” (The way of milk) which contributed to the iconographic experimentation of those years. Over time the works have lost all types of narration and historical reference. Currently, his research is directed towards a recovery of the form and the elaboration of anticlassical iconographies that live in the depths and that escape the historical conscience. This is why he also makes use of the terracotta sculpture with the technique of the engobe or painting.
